Cancellation Notice | ABA AdLaw Section 2020 Spring Conference
This comes as no surprise, but here is the official notice from the ABA AdLaw Section Chair Linda Jellum regarding our 2020 Spring Conference, which had been scheduled for early May:
Dear Administrative Law Section Members, Panel Presenters and Attendees of the Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice Institute, Thank you for your continued participation in the annual CLE programs presented by the ABA Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. The 16th Annual Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice Institute was scheduled to take place on May 8, 2020 in Washington, DC. However, the ABA takes the health and safety of our members, our meeting presenters and attendees, and our staff seriously. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the related state of emergency declaration, at the national and state level, the guidance from the CDC to cancel meetings with more than 50 attendees scheduled for the next 8 weeks (which includes this meeting), as well as the number of restrictions imposed upon participation in public events by employers, the ABA and the Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice Institute. As advance registration for this program had not yet opened, there are no actions required on your part at this time. The Section is working with presenters to develop individual CLE Webinars for each panel, and we hope to make these available to you online by mid-summer. We will keep you informed about the availability of the online panels and will share access information once the panels are ready. We know you may also have questions about the status of our 2020 Administrative Law Conference which is scheduled for December 17-18, 2020 at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC. Online advance registration for this event will open in June. The ABA takes the health and safety of our members, our meeting presenters and attendees, and our staff seriously. While the decision to attend a meeting is based on several factors personal to you, as of now we intend to proceed with the 2020 Administrative Law Conference as scheduled. The ABA and the Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice are monitoring developments and guidance from a variety of sources, including the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and U.S. state and local health authorities. We will continue to monitor the situation and take any necessary precautions in accordance with updates and regulations released by State and Federal health authorities. Should a change in the situation necessitate the need to cancel the 2020 Administrative Law Conference, information will be posted here and sent to you at your email address in our records. Should cancellation become necessary, your registration fees will be refunded as well. We thank you again for your continued participation in our programs, and we look forward to seeing you in December. Sincerely, Linda D.
