Special (and Free) Lunch Session at ABA AdLaw Conference on Friday, 5/7: Fireside Chat with Former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff

On Friday the ABA Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice will be holding our annual Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice Institute as well as our annual Homeland Security Law Institute. It’s not to late to register for these virtual, combined conferences (details here).

As part of this dual-conference event, we will be hosting a virtual “luncheon” from 12:30-1:30pm eastern, which will include the presentation of the Mary C. Lawton Award for Outstanding Government Service to Judge Melissa McIntosh, followed by a fireside chat on national security issues with Judge Michael Chertoff and Joe Whitley. And we have decided to move the luncheon event outside of the conference paywall.

Title: 20 Years after 9/11: A Conversation on the State of Homeland Security with the Honorable Michael Chertoff (Former DHS Secretary)

An interview of former DHS Secretary Chertoff by Joe Whitley, Program Co-Chair and Former DHS General Counsel. Viewers are welcome to ask questions via the “chat” feature. Judge Chertoff will address various topics to include the statutory improvements at FEMA since the formation of the Department, bipartisan immigration reform, cyber security, and how best to protect America’s infrastructure. Judge Chertoff will also discuss the challenges DHS will likely face in the coming years and how best to adapt to and address to these challenges. Lastly, Judge Chertoff will discuss the business of homeland security and some of the work that The Chertoff Group is undertaking.
