We are delighted to announce that the winner of the AALS Section on Administrative Law’s Emerging Scholar Award for 2023 is Professor Emily Bremer, for her article The Rediscovered Stages of Agency Adjudication, 99 Wash. U. L. Rev. 377 (2021). Congratulations to Professor Bremer on this accomplishment! In addition, Professor Noah Rosenblum received an Honorable Mention for his paper, The Antifascist Roots of Presidential Administration, 122 Colum. L. Rev. 1 (2022). Congratulations to Professor Rosenblum as well!  

We received many excellent nominations for this year’s award. We want to honor and to thank the distinguished members of this year’s selection committee, who shouldered the difficult task of reading these great papers and choosing among them. This year, the chair of the committee was Professor Tim Lytton, and its members were Professors Kent Barnett, Lisa Bressman, Benjamin Eidelson, Sophia Lee, Ronald Levin, and Jed Stiglitz. The Section is grateful to this all-star team of scholars for taking the time to serve on the committee this fall—thank you for doing this important work!

The honorees will be recognized at the upcoming AALS conference in San Diego in January 2023. The Administrative Law Section’s main program, “Visions of Democracy in the Regulatory State” is Friday, January 6, 2023, from 1pm-2:40pm. The moderator will be Professor Jamelle Sharpe, and our panelists will be Professors Anya Bernstein, Blake Emerson, Kali Murray, Chris Walker, and Daniel Walters. The New Voices event will take place on Saturday, January 7, from 3-4:40pm. We look forward to seeing you there, and congratulations again to Emily and Noah!
